the digital landscape service (dls) provides digital services for museums and galleries to display data, photos and other multimedia materials, according to its mission statement.
the dls was formed during the 1990s with the cooperation of museum galleries, public health officials, police departments, health organizations and others, the company says.
since 1997, the dls has also worked with the centers for disease control and prevention's behavioral risk factor surveillance system, which tracks behaviors like alcohol abuse, drug abuse and sex work for u.s. citizens.
'it's our mission to protect and increase the quality of life for the people of connecticut, and the dls is a key part of that program,' said rick sager, chief communications officer for the medical examiner's office.
the dls was originally part of a government-operated service, until the government took it over and began to provide services to various groups.
since its inception in 2000, the dls has received a total of more than 8.5 million page views through its website. by july of this year, the dls had received more than 1.5 million page views in the first half of 2015 and 515,000 in the second half of last year, according to company records.
