Hire free royalties music service called gogo is now being sued over copyright claims by the family of former facebook employee michael wolf, who died suddenly in april after getting stranded in the wilderness while on a trip. wolf's estate has accused the popular streaming site of illegally reclassifying a song he co-wrote in 1996. the song, titled 'it is me,' was used as the theme song to the 1999 teen movie teen beach movie. wolf's family claims that after the song was featured in the film the recording studio responsible for recording the song began charging royalties, according to reuters. the family claims that spotify, which has since replaced gogo, 'intended for the gogo service to be fully compensated for these rights' in accordance with law. wolf, who was 23 at the time of his passing, died of acute methamphetamine intoxication shortly after he began his journey alone on the appalachian trail, according to the report. in the film, wolf's character describes a hallucinogenic effect of consuming the drug when taking part in a dare. wolf's song 'it is me' was released by mercury records in its entirety in july that year, according to music feeds. the lawsuit filed in the united states district court for the district of vermont asks for an injunction that would prevent spotify from charging royalties to the wolf family. it is currently unknown if the company has yet to respond to the lawsuit.
